My name is Lesley Huntley, and I live in beautiful Christchurch, New Zealand. Yes, New Zealand, home of Peter Jackson (the film-maker, not the cigarettes), Flight of the Conchords and about 60 million sheep.
Being at the bottom of the earth means you have to find your own fun, and if you don’t discover your passion pretty quick, you’ll run out of things to do, leave and never come back. Luckily, I found what I love to do, and have enjoyed living here for most of my life.
After running a couple of successful small businesses and starting a family, priorities changed. I came to realise (a little late) that if you do what you love, you’ll always love what you do. And if you are passionate about what you love to do, you’ll never work a day in your life.
For many many years I have marketed online, selling my own and other people’s products on commission. I spent many years getting websites to the top of Google because if I didn’t, my family would go hungry.
Then that wasn’t really enough any more. I started to realise I was missing something, and it became more and more clear that thing was good old fashioned human interaction. I needed feedback a little more gratifying than the sound of a droplet of water.
So I started to create websites for the odd business owner here and there. Along the way I found many had already had websites created by people calling themselves designers. People who knew nothing about Internet Marketing.
You can’t blame them really. They are designers, not marketers after all. They have degrees in design, not commerce. It makes sense they know nothing about creating websites that do what they were supposed to – turn a profit and make money.
For me the design was secondary to getting my products in the face of the people I wanted to buy them. I needed a vehicle for this, so I learnt how to design websites. It just happened I needed to create highly optimised websites in order to get my products in front of the buyers.
So I started using these online marketing skills to help business owners market their businesses online. It helped that one of the businesses I’d run previously was as a graphic designer, so I took to web design like a duck to water. Due to my online marketing background I was also able to get the websites created by the designers to page one of Google.
And that’s when I discovered my true calling. I love helping business owners succeed with Online Marketing.
It makes sense really. I create websites for fun, I post business tips in forums to pass time, and I talk till people’s eyes glaze over about search engine optimisation.
I love the looks on the faces of the business owner in desperate need of a break, when they learn what is possible with Internet Marketing. I love it when I get a website to page one for a money keyword which helps put their kids through college. I get immense satisfaction providing above average customer service to the struggling business owner.
I love paying it forward with all the information on this website, in return for all the wonderful marketing information that has been shared with me over the years.
